Hi! My name is Priya Gupta and I am 23 years old. I live in Wales, UK and I graduated from Cardiff University in 2019 with a degree in Journalism, Communication and Politics. I have always wanted to travel so after my degree I decided get my CELTA qualification so that I could work abroad and teach English to speakers of other languages. I am a friendly and patient teacher. My warm teaching manner allows me to build a natural rapport with my students. Teaching primary aged children has really enabled me to embrace the fun side of teaching and I definitely allow myself to be more silly and not take things too seriously in lessons.

I think it’s important that lessons are very student-centred so I personalise all lessons in line with the student’s needs and interests. I am patient and encouraging with my students, I like to give my students plenty of time to think without jumping in to give them the answer. I might give them a few gentle nudges or questions to steer them in the right direction but ultimately I don’t see any benefit in providing answers to students. I try to make lessons as fun as possible as I truly do believe that learning a language should be an enjoyable experience and I don’t want my students to feel like learning English is a chore.
